4-H Horse Bowl and Hippology

The 4-H Horse Bowl and Hipplogy contest trains young people in decision-making skills related to horse care and management. Team members will learn:

  • How to care for and manage equine
  • Knowledge related to the horse and the horse industry
  • How to apply this knowledge by answering questions in a competitive format

Hippology Contest – A team will consist of three or four members participating individually with the three highest scores being combined to determine the team score. This contest consists of three parts: a written exam, an identification component and a video horse judging component.

Horse Bowl – A team will consist of three or four members in a quiz bowl format.  The contest will be divided into three age divisions:  Junior (4th & 5th grades), Jr. High (6th – 8th grades) and Senior (9th – 12th grades).  The Central Region 4-H Hose Bowl & Hippology Contest will be held Saturday, January 21, in Lebanon, Tennessee.
